When Elaine Tennyson walks into a corporate reception, public event, or
private party, it isn't long before everybody knows her name. Elaine's
down to earth personality and her ability to put whomever she speaks with
at ease, have established her great reputation in the Toronto event circuit.
Elaine is known in many circles as a networking dynamo. Through events
of her own design, Elaine has garnered the respect and admiration of the
Public Relations community. The National Post even dubbed Elaine a
"PR Powerhouse."
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Elaine's family moved to Toronto, a city
that would almost instantly fall for her charm. At age fifteen Elaine
began modelling and high fashion design. A budding entrepreneur, Elaine
moved to New York to pursue her modelling career. On a return visit to
Toronto, Elaine worked in promotions for the hospitality and entertainment
industry and fell in love with the world of art deco.
To expedite her newfound passion, Elaine and her partner opened an Art
Deco 20th century design store. She continued modelling and sold her couture
designs out of the store. With the help of an enormous list of contacts,
Elaine Tennyson Enterprises (ETE), an entertainment and PR franchise that
would reshape Toronto's event scene was born. Her company has produced
concerts, theme parties, fundraisers, fashion shows, product launches,
nightclub and restaurant openings, art exhibitions, seminars, conferences,
wedding receptions, Celebrations of Life - you name it, and ETE did it.
Several
of Elaine's most memorable events include her “Labyrinth of Love”
Valentine's Day parties; “Ambassadors Dinner” in support of
Teaching to Promote Women's Health hosted by University of Toronto and
Women's College Hospital; "Mystical Fantasy Fashion Show" in
support of the Children's Aid Society of Durham; Drinking and Driving
Awareness Benefit following a tragic accident involving a friend; "Sounds
Like Justice" Benefit Concert for AIDWYC, The Association in Defence
of the Wrongly Convicted; "AB/FAB Fashion Parade" in support
of the Toronto International Film Festival Group; "The Pink Bedroom
Party" by Jeanne Lottie in support of Breast Cancer; "The Miners'
Ball" featuring Eric Burdon and The Animals; and "Friends Day"
a celebration to "acknowledge your friends contribution in your life
and pay them a tribute." Elaine's vision is to have "Friends
Day" sanctioned by the Government of Canada as a nationally celebrated
day (e.g. Mother's Day, Father's Day, Family Day.)
Other
diversified credits include Excellence Magazine fashion editor; Visual
Art Concepts promotions director; PR director for a natural health product
company; assistant to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; SkyDome corporate box coordinator
and acting. Elaine is also a member of ACTRA. In 1998, Elaine opened Elaine
Tennyson Gallery, which featured some of Canada's most renowned artists
and hosted great parties for The Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival
as well as many receptions for various corporations. The gallery was the
venue for Palm Pictures 1999 Toronto International Film Festival gala
and Elaine hosted a private party for rocker Rod Stewart. Elaine also
opened Elaine's, a nightclub that played host to corporate parties, concerts,
product launches, press conferences and a New Year's Eve Gala.
In the early 21st century Elaine founded Self Serve, self-help seminar
